An entrepreneurial couple based in Hampshire spotted a gap in the market for City enthusiasts and with the help of a Start Up Loan have been able to launch the perfect solution, Go On Go Out.
Si Bunting and Ruth Eades came up with the idea after struggling to find both events to attend whilst on holiday in Madrid last year and fun new things to do in their hometown of Portsmouth.
Giving Portsmouth city-goers the complete online guide to entertainment, cultural and artistic events, Go On Go Out provides details about live music and club nights, comedy, theatre, family attractions and everything in between!
Initially the pair set-up a Facebook group to share events in the Portsmouth area and the concept snowballed from there.
Start Up Loans in Portsmouth
After struggling to secure finance to fund their start-up, the Si and Ruth approached the Let’s Do Business Group (LDBG) for a Start Up Loan and their application for £9,500 each was approved.
“The Start Up Loan enabled us to build a powerful platform that we can apply to any location in the world.
“We’d just like to say thanks to Let’s Do Business for firstly, the speed at which they dealt with our Start Up Loan application and secondly, for their support when looking into further funding and also for the great match with our mentor, whose advice is invaluable.”
Through Let’s Start Up, LDBG offer an affordable loan and mentoring support to fledgling entrepreneurs with a viable business proposition. The scheme is open to those aged 18 and over based in the South of England.
Highs and Lows
Things haven’t been plain sailing for the duo, with unforeseen problems and development of the website taking much longer than expected. But with a huge amount of hard work and determination Go On Go Out launched in May last year.
Since then, momentum has built continuously with visitors to the site increasingly dramatically and revenue has been generated from month one, which was much quicker than anticipated.
Looking to the future
With plans to grow throughout the UK, significantly increase their audience and develop innovative features such as an app, the future of this tech start-up looks very bright.
