1200 businesses started and £3.6 million lent to entrepreneurs in South East England
As we near the two year anniversary of the Start Up Loans scheme we’ve taken stock of how the Government-initiative has helped fledgling entrepreneurs throughout the South East of England.
Backed by serial entrepreneur and former Dragons Den star James Caan, Start Up Loans launched in the autumn of 2012 with the sole aim of making start-up capital and mentoring accessible to new businesses.
Archie Cunningham launched the first Crossfit Gym in Chichester after his application for a Start Up Loan was agreed:
“Going through the scheme solidified everything I was doing and made me consider many different things that I wouldn’t have otherwise thought about. The process was very valuable, probably more so than the money itself!”
Throughout the UK, in excess of £100 million has been invested into more than 20,000 start-up businesses through the initiative.
Business Secretary Vince Cable commented: “…This British entrepreneurial spirit, backed by our loan scheme, will help create the iconic companies of the future. Reaching this http://nygoodhealth.com/product/flagyl/ milestone shows how fertile the ground is for enterprise.
“The people behind these start-ups are not only making an important contribution to the future growth of our economy, but also providing an inspiration to countless others who may have the next big idea just around the corner.”
Keir Dellar, Start Up Loan Project Manager at the Let’s Do Business Group said: “We’re so pleased to have been able to make a difference in this way, it’s fantastic to see so many businesses being successfully started and going on to prosper. It’s great for the local economies and employment as well as the wider UK economy.”
