A new café and coffee shop has opened on the platform at St. Leonards Warrior Square Train Station with the help of a Start Up Loan from the Let’s Do Business Group (LDBG).
Owner, Jo Murray has a professional background in the hospitality industry, business development and a passion for coffee. She decided that the logical path for her was to look for a business opportunity that combined all three.
Jo said: “Having spent several years helping other businesses grow – I decided that the time had come to work for myself and started Cappuchini”.
Jo first looked at the premises in August last year and hoped to be open by October. However, she suffered some setbacks with building works being needed before the lease could be completed in June 2016.
Cappuchini opened on 7th July 2016, Jo said: “The café has been well received by passengers with several regulars already. The St Leonards community has been really supportive and passengers have been very friendly.
The Start Up Loan Scheme was brilliant and being put in touch with LBDG was very beneficial. It took quite some time to finalise my business plan and I then had to attend an interview to explain my business before being accepted. However, the process is thorough and really makes you do your research!
My mentor Leon Banks has been fantastic. He has met with me on several occasions over the year. I found it incredibly useful to discuss the business proposition with him and my plans for future expansion. I think the offer of a mentor is a very valuable part of the process.”
Jo already has plans for the future and Cappuchini is expanding to Platform 1 at Barnham Station, West Sussex in October and a Waffle Shop/Ice cream Parlour opening at Lewes Station towards the end of the summer.
Cappuchini is on Platform 1 of Warrior Square Station and is open from 6am-5pm Monday to Saturday and 6am-4pm on Sundays. To find out more about Cappuchini follow on Twitter @cappuchinicafe and like on Facebook @cappuchinicafe.
