An entrepreneurial man from Rye has found success after setting up his own recruitment agency with the help of a Start Up Loan from the Let’s Do Business Group (LDBG).
After spending 18 years in sales management roles and being away from home a lot, Dominic Goodson decided that he wanted to be able to have more flexibility and be closer to his young family.
Goodson’s Recruitment is based in Rye and deals with permanent placements across the South East. They specialise in Professional/Executive positions and work in most industry sectors. Offering multiple packages and flexible, competitive rates, their aim is to achieve excellence in service with value and efficiency.
Dominic said: “I have always had a passion for recruiting and had enjoyed the experience I had gained throughout my career.
I really want to offer great customer service; this is where our core values came from – Listen, Respect, Analyse and Understand. I think this tells you a great deal about how we feel business should be conducted and how people should be treated, regardless of their job title or experience.
Starting up was great! I really enjoyed the sense of achievement and the constant learning. Your confidence builds, your passion grows and you see that you can really do this! I attended a Ready for Business workshop with LDBG which was fantastic; it really helped me to get an experienced perspective on how much I needed to do.”
Dominic borrowed £3300 to invest in the office equipment he needed, marketing and most of all advertising. He is currently hiring sales managers to expand his reach, initially concentrating on the South East but, is looking to be in a position over the next 2-3 years where he can open offices in different locations and really promote himself as the specialist for UK professionals.
Dominic concluded: “I would highly recommend using a company like LDBG, just the confidence alone that you gain from speaking with people and getting ideas worked out is immeasurable. Knowing that you have worked hard to present a good business idea is one thing but, having experienced professionals look at it and have faith that you can achieve these plans really raises you up. I’d say if you have an idea for a business – go for it!”
